Middle Land Chan Monastery

IMG_0028.HEIC

Middle Land Chan Monastery was established in the spring of 2008 in Pomona, California—a culturally diverse city in the greater Los Angeles area. Conveniently located just south of the I-10 Freeway on San Bernardino Avenue, the center is easily accessible and situated near several renowned universities, including California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), and the Claremont Colleges.

The monastery spans over three acres and features two main buildings surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. Upon entering, one feels as if they have stepped into a tranquil Buddhist Pure Land. The serene outdoor spaces, framed by a clear view of the majestic Mt. San Antonio range, offer a peaceful refuge that has drawn many local residents to pause and enjoy the calm.

The founding of Middle Land Chan Monastery fulfilled the great compassionate vow of Venerable Master Weichueh to spread the Dharma throughout the world. Amid the fast-paced rhythm of life in the City of Angels, the center offers a sanctuary where people—regardless of gender, age, nationality, or background—can encounter the Dharma, awaken to their true nature, and discover the profound freedom and inner clarity that lie at the heart of spiritual practice.
