I wanted to express how important it was for me to learn the etiquette of the Buddhist monastery, including how to greet monks and nuns, how to put my palms together, and how to half-bow, among other practices.
I focus on my breathing, counting my breaths, keeping my mind calm, letting go of wandering thoughts, maintaining perspective, and observing my life. I appreciate the emphasis on values such as respect, kindness, harmony, truthfulness, honesty, and non-violence.
I found our discussions about the causes of suffering very insightful. We covered topics like birth, illness, separation from loved ones, unpleasant company, longing for the unattainable, imbalances in body and mind, and death. I particularly enjoyed learning about the Four Noble Truths.
Lastly, I want to sincerely thank you for the class. I genuinely enjoyed it each morning, especially the meditation sessions and the lectures. The PowerPoint visuals were also very helpful. I’m grateful for the books you provided, as they allow me to read at my own pace at home.
